This Kids team just hasn’t measured up in the first half of the season. Lots of solid players with solid fantasy stats, but no superstars have risen to lead this team to regular wins. One first half MVP is catcher Dillon Dingler. In a season where the Kids were counting on last season’s MVP Cal Raleigh to lead the team, Dingler has stepped up when Raleigh struggled to start the season and ended up on the IR.

On the pitching side, there are lots of average seasons in play, but Jesus Luzardo has lived up to expectations and led this team in four pitching categories.

The Kids are out of contention and have already made three trades to make the team respectable by adding categories they have struggled with like stolen bases. Expect more trades as the deadline approaches. Kids management looks to pick up a variety of rookies or young players after the deadline.

The Kids are sporting three mid-season most valuable players. Cam Schlittler on the mound has sported incredible control of the plate leading the team in wins, strikeouts, earned run average, and WHIP. Hunter Goodman has brought the power to the Coca-Cola Kids this season not unlike his counterpart from the 2025 season Cal Raleigh. The big surprise of the season for the Kids is the Detroit Tigers rookie Kevin McGonigle who is leading the team in 3 offensive categories.

We are two weeks into the baseball season, and the Coca-Cola Kids B-Team is deep in it! The Kids B-Team plays in the UPCBaseball League, which is a high-maintenance league because the roster may change daily. That is a lot of days of changing rosters in a baseball season. I am excited for the Kids this year as they had a nice draft and feel good about the season for these players.

Fantasy Baseball is Back: Introducing the 2026 Coca-Cola Kids A-Team (Updated 6/28/26)

I always look forward to the baseball season to watch my Chicago Cubs and Detroit Tigers make a run for the World Series. I’ve been a fan of the Cubs since I was a tiny little child, and I have been a fan of the Tigers since 1984.

In 1988, I found a new reason to love the game, Fantasy Baseball. I have played on some iteration of fantasy baseball every year since the paper and pencil years, checking statistics in the USA Today every Tuesday to score, to my first online baseball league on Sandbox? or something like that. Now I play in two leagues, hence the A-team and B-team, and this is the 25th year I have had the Coca-Cola Kids A-Team in the League of the Gorgeous Rogues. The Coca Cola Kids "B Team" Baseball Club missed the top bracket of the playoffs with three games back.  It is disappointing as they spent the majority of the season in the top three spots of the league.  But, if you go back to the Week One opening back in April, you'd find that the Kids excel at mediocrity.  

If the Kids round out the bottom of the bracket with two wins and a fifth place finish, that is, well, right in the middle of this 10 team league.  Kinda feels, mediocre.

Coca Cola Kids "A Team" Baseball Club makes the Fantasy Playoffs

It was a season to remember for the Coca Cola Kids as they dominated the first half of the season.  Players that contributed to the historic first half are Cal Raleigh, Pete Crow-Armstrong, Josh Naylor, Katel Marte, Elly de la Cruz, Julio Rodriguez, Matthew Boyd, Jason Adams, Freddie Peralta and Shota Imanaga.  The Kids blew out teams week after week mid-July.  

July and August was a different story for the Kids.  As players like Pete Crow-Armstrong, Elly de la Cruz, and the starting pitching went cold and players like Spencer Torkelson, and Bryson Stott cooled off the Kids' dominance ended.  They lost the last six weeks of the regular season, and their first place in the league.  

Some roster changes heading into the playoffs include bringing in Blaze Alexander 3B (Arizona), Mike Yastrzemski OF (Kansas City), Zach Gelof 2B (Las Vegas), Will Vest RP (Detroit) to help fill or back up some spots that have shown weakness in the last several weeks.  

The Kids did manage to hold onto, by a thread, the second spot in the playoffs, earning a first week bye.  This post will update the results of the playoffs for the Kids, so stay tuned.

As Week 19 begins, the Kids find themselves in a respectable 3rd place, which is the lowest they have found themselves this season.  Hitting has been up and down.  Power hasn't been a problem, but consistent singles and extra base hits have been lacking. Pitching has just been holding its own, but definitely needs to improve if the Kids are to be serious contenders in the playoffs.

Cal Raliegh continues to be the MVP of the year leading the team in home runs and runs batted in.  Kyle Schwarber could arguably be an MVP candidate as he leads the team in runs, walks and OPS.  From the mound, Jacob DeGrom definitely makes an impact, but our top pitcher is Bryan Woo from Seattle as he leads the team in innings pitched, WHIP and quality starts.

The Coca Cola Kids "A Team" Baseball Club still sits in first place in the league, but the dominance is no longer the norm.  During the weeks 13-18 stretch, the Kids are 54-50.  Winning record?  Yes.  Winning enough?  No.  The rest of the league has advanced, and three teams are within 5 games back.  Cal Raliegh and Elly De La Cruz have continued to lead the team.  Pete Crow-Armstrong has gone stone-cold with the bat as Julio Rodriguez had heated up.  Overall, pitching has gone soft, especially the starters.  MacKenzie Gore has lost his touch as the hits and walks have skyrocketed and strikeouts have dropped.  Shota Imanaga has been the best pitcher in this stretch.  

Randy Arozarena has been the top pick-up in the last six weeks.  His solid play has helped to balance out some losses and dropping numbers in other areas.

Entering Week 13, the Kids are still in good shape, but they have bounced around the standings from 1st place to as low as 6th place in the league with inconsistent play.  Other teams in the league have discovered if they can continually slot starting pitchers in throughout the week, and pile on the innings, they can beat the Kids.  I don't play that game.  I post the best team I can without dropping and picking up pitchers because they start that day.  

Enough complaining, the Kids offense is keeping them competitive each week and the front office hopes the pitching staff can win categories not dependent on massive amounts of innings like era, wins, holds and quality starts.  The Kids have gotten really steady work from their top 3 starters Schwellenbach, DeGrom, Luzardo with Imanaga coming off the IL supposedly this week.  

At the plate, Raleigh is the team's MVP so far with Tucker, Suzuki and Schwarber close behind.  Those four are solidly supported with numbers from Pena, Betts, Olson, and Kwan.  Front office is really looking forward to some exciting play and speed on the bases from Caballero.

The Coca Cola Kids "A Team" Baseball Club finds themselves in territory they haven't seen in quite some time, first place at the end of June.  The season has settled in and the blowouts have become more rare unlike the first six weeks.  At the end of twelve weeks, the season MVP is emerging to be Cal Raleigh with Pete Crow-Armstrong a close second.  The Kids manager is happy to see Marte return from the IL picking up where he left off, and the steady play of Josh Naylor.  Front office went to the waiver wire to get a couple reliable outfield bats as Crow-Armstrong and Rodriguez's bats have shown a steady cool down.  They picked up Adolis Garcia from the Rangers and Randy Arozarena from the Mariners.  Both got off to slow 

(starts this season, but have shown an uptick in stats recently.  

The starting pitchers have been steady.  The team is looking forward to having Shota Imanaga back, but relief pitching has been a struggle and revolving door all year.  The Kids are fine to target either saves or holds, but the relief staff is not accruing either.  Expect to see a relief pitching staff turn over in the next six weeks.

Fantasy Baseball: Coca Cola Kids "B Team" Baseball Club Weeks 7-12

The Coca Cola Kids "B Team" ballclub has had a nice start to the season after six weeks with 10 wins above losses (54-44-10).  The ballclub is solid all around, but some holes have appeared.  The kids are having a hard time filling the third base position. Willi Castro is just not doing the heavy lifting management thought he would do.  They picked up Noelvi Marte who is off to a solid start for the Reds with decent numbers across the board, but he is currently sitting on the IL.  Castro is back in while the Kids continue to look for a way to fill the 3B hole.  

The Kids pitching staff is solid up and down the bullpen, but the good weeks are good, and the bad weeks are bad; there isn't much in between.  The starting staff all have ERA's below a 4.00 with the high ERA at 3.97 and the low at 2.72.  Relief pitching has been fair.  Management is looking for one more reliver to add to the team for holds.  One spot that hurts is the Kids lost a top starter to injury as Shota Imanaga went to the IL.

Fantasy Baseball: Coca Cola Kids "A Team" Baseball Club Weeks 7-12

The Kids are off to a great start in 2025.  Even after a blowout loss in Week 6, they are still 21 wins over losses (63-42-15).  Two key players on the team are currently on the IL, SP Shota Imanaga and OF Teoscar Hernandez.  Both of these players have been key in the Coca Cola Kids hot start.  The Kids are also waiting for OF Garrett Mitchell to come off the IL too.  

It seems that the top comeback player of the year candidate, Spencer Torkelson, is beginning to cool off after his hot start.  But Torkelson is tied in team lead in doubles (11) for the Kids, second on the team in both runs scored (28) and RBI (33) and among team leaders in home runs (10).  

The Kids management did well with their Keepers from last season.  Elly De La Cruz leads the team in stolen bases with 14 and is among team leaders in runs scored (26) and hits (29).  Cal Raleigh has been pounding the ball in April and May.  He leads the team in Home Runs (12) and walks (27) and is among the leaders in runs scored (26).  Julio Rodriguez is the most pedestrian from last year's keepers.  It didn't seem that he could have as dismal a season as last year, so it seemed worth the risk to keep him.  It isn't paying off quite as much as management had hoped, but his numbers are strong enough to call it a win so far.  He leads the team in triples (2) and is among team leaders in runs scored (27).  The team would like to see more in the power and speed categories, but we will take slow and steady in his performance.  

Pete Crow-Armstrong is the MVP and RoY for the team in the first six weeks.  He leads the team in runs scored (31), tied for first in doubles (11), and second on the team in stolen bases (13).  Additionally, Crow-Armstrong is among team leaders in home runs (10) and runs batted in (28).

Fantasy Baseball: Coca Cola Kids "B Team" Weeks 1-6

Okay, so "B Team" implies the second best.  That is not the case here.  It is simply the designation between one team and another.  Last week, I wrote about the Coca Cola Kids "A Team" fantasy baseball team that is part of the League of Gorgeous Rogues.  You can read that and keep up with the "A Team" weekly RIGHT HERE  

This week the focus is on the Coca Cola Kids "B Team."  The B is a part of the UPCbaseball league which has been in existence since 2010, and the Kids best league finish is 3rd place which they finished in 2011.  They have finished 4th in the league twice (2012 and 2017).  Like the "A Team," the kids are professors of mediocrity.  

This league is a high maintenance league as managers can make adjustments to the team daily.  Managing two clubs, as the owner, there just isn't the time to do daily changes.  Nonetheless, the Kids fight every day and thank the baseball gods for the opportunity to play ball!

Fantasy Baseball 2025: The Coca Cola Kids "A Team" Weeks 1-6

Smell the Earth reawakening as winter begins to thaw!  That means only one thing...Baseball season is here!  As of this writing, both the Cubs and Tigers are playing well in April.  That just makes my day!  

Baseball season also means Fantasy Baseball is here too.  The Coca Cola Kids have been around since 1988 and the Kids have and A team and a B team in two different leagues.  The Kids A team has been in action since 2005 in the ball league, League of the Gorgeous Rogues.  In 20 years of playing fantasy ball in The League of the Gorgeous Rogues, the Kids have been Champions twice (2026, 2013) and third place twice (2007, 2021).  The rest of the seasons are mostly less than mediocre, but we have fun anyway.  

The Coca Cola Kids B team plays in the UPC Baseball league.  The UPC Baseball league has been in existence since 2010.  In that time the Kids have never won the league, but took a 3rd place finish in 2011. 

Both leagues are super competitive with active players, but the UPC league is high maintenance with daily team adjustments as options where as the Rogues league has weekly roster adjustments.

After the first weekend of baseball, the Kids snatched up undrafted Tigers infielder, Spencer Torkleson, which, so far, has paid off really well. 

After week 1, The Kids are in first place of the North Division with a 12-4-4 record.  First place overall belongs to the Oxford Publicans with a 16-3-1 record. 

It is a great start to what The Kids are hoping to be a great season!

Fantasy Baseball Final: The Coca Cola Kids Break League Records!

The fantasy Baseball season has come to a close, and while the Coca-Cola Kids broke many league records, they did not have the best season ever.  The Kids lost their final week of the season 8-12, to take 8th place in the league playoffs out of 10 teams.  The shining star of the last week was Brian Reynolds of the Pittsburg Pirates batting .500 (11/22) with two doubles and three home runs.  He scored 6 runs and batted in six runners.  Shohei Ohtani batted .370 (10/27) with 2 doubles, 8 runs scored, and 4 RBI.  The pitching did not come through for the Kids in the final week.  

While the season ended about as successful as a flat tire, the Coca-Cola Kids did end up with some dubious records set for the league.  The Kids now hold the following records for the league: 

Most Pitching Losses for the season: 68

Most Hits allowed in a season: 890

Most Walks in a week:  34 

Most Walks in a season: tied 311

It is pretty apparent that the draft strategy last March was to grab as many everyday impact players.  While that may not have exactly panned out, the Kids did hold their own offensively throughout the season.  Not having an ace and a top-notch closer really showed in the standings.  

The management of the Coca-Cola Kids has a lot to ponder this offseason.  Maybe a little more draft research and strategy will make for a more competitive team next year. 

2022 Coca Cola Kids Fantasy Baseball update: It isn't pretty

Let's just say, there is no joy in Cola-ville this season for the Coca-Cola Kids baseball club could never
get it together.  The playoffs have begun and, well, the Kids didn't make it.  They will head to the consolation bracket, so maybe they can finish at the top of that.  They finished the regular season in last place in their division and 8th out of 10 in the league. 

Individually, several players have had nice seasons, but no one seems to have been willing to carry the team. Here is the current roster of the Coca Cola Kids:

In some cases, the Kids have been attempting to pick up youth for next year in the case of Morel, Duran, and McKenzie.  In other cases, the Kids have picked up some veterans hoping for a resurgence in numbers like Suarez, Soto, and Darvish.   Nonetheless, it has been a rough year for the Kids.  We will report back in at the end of the playoffs with a final report.  

2022 Coca Cola Kids Fantasy Baseball Team

We are a couple weeks into the new Major League Baseball season so it seems appropriate to introduce you to this year's Coca-Cola Kids Fantasy Baseball Team.  Established in 1988 as a National League Rotisserie Baseball Club, but then upgraded to an online team in the mid-1990s on Sandbox, the Kids enter their 34th season of fantasy baseball.  The Kids joined their current league, the League of the Gorgeous Rogues, in 2003 and took 7th place.  Since then the Kids won the championship twice in 2006 and 2013.  In 2021, the Kids shocked everyone in the playoffs to finish third, the only sub .500 team in the playoffs. They have finished last more times than they would like to admit, however.  Enough history, it is time to look forward to the 2022 baseball season. 

Each year teams in the league may keep up to three players from the past season. The Kids elected to keep: Brian Reynolds, Outfield, Pittsburg; Javier Baez, shortstop, Detroit; Kris Bryant, third base, Colorado.  Brian Reynolds quietly put together a good season last year and both Bryant and Baez are with new teams this year with promise to have really good years.

If you are counting, there are more players than our 23 man roster.  That is because three players are already on the 10-Day Injured List.  

At posting, the Kids are currently in 9th place (out of 10 teams) and are looking to use the benefit of a long season to catch up!  Anyway it turns out, it will be a great season of baseball.  

Fantasy Baseball Final results

The Major League Baseball regular season is about to wrap up, but the fantasy season for our baseball league ended last weekend.  Overall, for the injuries and weak performances of some players through the season, the Coca-Cola Kids ended strong.  They won the opening week of playoffs in the quarterfinals 11-8.  

Then, in the semifinal matchup, the Coca-Cola Kids were annihilated by the eventual league champions 14-4.  The funny thing about that matchup is that the Kids actually had a pretty good week.  As a team, they batted .288 with 8 Home Runs and 30 RBI.  The pitching staff matched the good week of offense posting a 2.81 ERA in 41.2 innings with four wins, three holds, and 47 strikeouts.  The eventual champs had a better week, a much, much better week.  In comparison, they batted .347 with 8 Home Runs and 29 RBI.  They scored 48 runs compared to 29 by the Kids.  Pitching is where the eventual champs ruled however, they posted a 2.09 ERA in 43 innings with three wins, one save, and 55 strikeouts.  They had five quality starts to the Kids' one quality start.  The Coca-Cola Kids were simply outmatched.  

The semifinals really fired up the Kids in the finals.  The Kids took on the regular-season champs for the third-place matchup.  The Kids won 10-8.  It wasn't as strong a week as the semifinals, but it was enough for third place.  Not a bad finish for the only team in the playoffs with a sub .500 record (185-188).  The Kids are happy with the third-place finish but are overall disappointed with the effort through the season.  

The owner of the Coca Cola Kids has some decisions to make over the off-season.  Who to keep, who to trade, who to cast off.  The league has a keeper rule for up to four players.  Who will the Kids go with?  They have a strong outfield with Reynolds, Robert and Castellanos but the consistency with Abreau and Bryant are hard to let go.  Maybe the Kids will go with youth in Bichette, Hayes, and Mondesi.  It is a long off-season made a little easier gazing upon that third-place trophy, but there are decisions to be made.  

Fantasy Baseball Playoffs begin!

The Coca-Cola Kids are in the playoffs!  The Kids finished the regular season in 6th place with a late-season push that brought them back from a low of 9th place in the league to 6th place.  It was a rough season for the Kids as injuries (Luis Robert, Adalberto Mondesi, Ke'Bryan Hayes) and a couple subpar performances from key positions (Lucas Giolito, Luis Castillo) kept the team from staying league elite.  Nonetheless, we enter the playoffs with underdog status.  The Kids have a history of causing some major upsets so stay tuned.  Here is the playoff roster:

The Coca Cola Kids have taken their beatings early in the season, but as the weather is heating up so are the Kids.  Just 2 weeks ago, the Kids were sitting in 9th place several games under the .500 mark thinking it would be time to start looking at buyers for some draft picks next year, but then the hitting and pitching have come around.  The team is really coming together.

An early-season trade giving up Ketel Marte and Michael Kopech for Ryan McMahon and Eddie Rosario, worked out well as Marte is on the DL, Kopech was dropped by the team picked back up by the Kids.  Kopech is a nice back-up on the bench and Ryan McMahon took the starting 2B position and  hit really well in May!  The Kids did pick up Nick Solak and a hot-hitting Gavin Lux as bench back-up  if McMahon cools off or there are injuries. 

The Kids also picked up Trey Mancini off the waiver wire early in May and dropped Ian Happ who is difficulty finding his stroke from last season.  Mancini has been the hottest hitter on an Orioles team who is having a hard time winning games this season.  

The Injured List has been tough on the Kids this season with Jose Abreu, Buster Posey, Kris Bryant and Javy Baez all hitting the Day-to-Day status or 10-day injured list.  Mondesi, second-round pick, Luis Robert, and keeper from last season Ke'Bryan Hayes have been out almost the entire season.  Mondesi just came off the list on May 31. 

As of June 1, the Kids currently sit in 6th place overall in the league and 3rd place in their division.  They have managed to bring their record above .500 with a record of 75-69-16.  They are 8.5 games out of first place.  The last two weeks they won their match-ups 11-5-4 and 13-6 respectively against current 9th and 5th place teams.  The first week of June the Kids face off against the current 4th place team.  This will be a good test, and the Kids manager will be looking to see where the team is deficient against upper-tier teams.  Stay tuned for another Fantasy Baseball update in July.
